The French National Day, also known as Bastille Day internationally, is celebrated every year on July 14. It commemorates the beginning of the French Revolution when the Bastille prison was stormed in 1789. This day symbolizes the end of the absolute monarchy and the birth of a sovereign nation. It’s a day when the people of France come together to honour the spirit of revolution with great reverence. We have chosen the painting “The 14th of July, 1886” by Vincent van Gogh to illustrate this day. Happy Bastille Day to all our customers and site visitors from France!
